Law enforcement and counterterrorism officials, citing lapses in compliance with surveillance orders, are pushing to overhaul a federal law that requires phone and broadband carriers to ensure that their networks can be wiretapped, federal officials say.

The officials say tougher legislation is needed because some telecommunications companies in recent years have begun new services and made system upgrades that create technical obstacles to surveillance. They want to increase legal incentives and penalties aimed at pushing carriers like Verizon, AT&T, and Comcast to ensure that any network changes will not disrupt their ability to conduct wiretaps.

Something is consuming hydrogen and organic molecules on Saturn’s moon Titan, and the recipe matches astrobiologists’ theories about possible methane-based life. Granted, there may be other chemical explanations — it’s just that no one knows what they are yet.

New data from the Cassini spacecraft show hydrogen is disappearing near Titan’s surface. What’s more, scientists have not been able to find acetylene, an organic molecule that should be pretty abundant in the moon’s thick atmosphere.

Another UFO Closes China Airport

An airport in Baotou, Inner Mongolia, was forced to shut to prevent passenger jets crashing into a UFO, according to reports.

Three flights to Baotou from Shanghai and Beijing were reportedly forced to circle the airport until the UFO disappeared.

Two other flights were diverted away from Baotou and to the nearby cities of Ordos and Taiyuan. The airport was shut for around an hour “to guarantee safety” according to a spokesman.

Witnesses reported a bright light shining in the sky on September 11 around two-and-a-half miles away from Baotou airport, before suddenly vanishing.

Over 100 Earth-Like Planets Have Been Discovered in Last Few Weeks

More than 100 Earth-like planets have been discovered in the past few weeks by the space telescope “Kepler.”

Kepler was launched in January of last year and has been scanning space for planets orbiting stars ever since.

Most scientists now believe that there are around 100,000 planets in our galaxy alone that could harbour life.

12 More Innocent Civilians Killed in Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan — Twelve Afghan civilians died Sunday after U.S. rockets mistakenly hit a house during the much-trumpeted offensive to clear the last Taliban stronghold in Helmand province, a loss of life that is likely to seriously undermine the operation and the renewed American-led mission to win the trust of the population.

The use of the rockets has been suspended pending a “thorough review” of the incident, the U.S.-led International Security Assistance Force said in a statement.
